The benefits of buying Pet
Insurance |

One
of the most distressing situations a dog or cat owner
can find themselves in is where their pet's medical
problem is curable but the cost is too high for the
owner and the animal has to be put to sleep.
Like Human medicine,Veterinary medicine has become increasingly
sophisticated over the last few years, but these treatments
can be very expensive.
Once you have taken out our cheap pet insurance, cover
will start after 14 days but will not cover any pre-existing
conditions your cat or dog had at the time you booked.
For full details see pet insurance conditions.
Recent research has shown that nearly half of all UK
households own at least one pet, but only 12% of these
have pet insurance.
Recent advances in veterinary medicine have lead to
greater choice of treatments for a wider range of conditions.
Annual spend with UK veterinary practices was estimated
at £1.45 billion pounds in 2000.
The cost of veterinary treatment can mount up quickly.
Hourly rates can also vary considerably depending on
where you live.
In the survey just over half of pet owners have taken
their pet for unexpected treatment in the last 2 years.
Of these 71% had pet insurance compared to 51% of owners
without pet insurance. This clearly shows the fact that
some pet owners simply cannot afford veterinary fees.

In addition to the increase in claims for veterinary
treatment, there has been a significant rise over the
last five years in third party claims for damages. Increasingly,
people who are injured or subject to loss by someones
pet are turning to the courts for financial compensation.
Legal bodies such as the Forum of Insurance Lawyers
recommend having pet insurance which includes public
liability to safeguard against expensive compensation. |
Pet
insurance is well worth the money
A Mori pole in 2001 found that 88% of pet owners
with pet insurance cover agree with the statement -
“ Pet insurance is well worth the money”
